The Bishop’s Walk for Catholic Charities—Families Helping Families—will be Saturday, April 1, in most locations and on Sunday, April 2, in Cape Girardeau. Bishop Edward Rice will participate in his first Bishop’s Walk at the Springfield location.
The Bishop’s Walk is a fun, family-friendly, community-building event, and a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need. All proceeds support Catholic Charities’ programs that serve the poor and vulnerable in our communities. Because the Walk happens during Lent, it is also an opportunity for parishes throughout the diocese to join together in the Lenten observance of almsgiving.
Locations have been finalized for parishes located in Cape Girardeau (Notre Dame Regional High School), Joplin (Landreth Park) and Springfield (Springfield Catholic High School). Many parishes are walking at or near parish property, or at a local school or park. For a complete list of Bishop’s Walk locations, scroll down to the bottom of this page.
Last year, we had more than 1,000 participants, and Bishop Rice presented the traveling trophies to St. Mary’s Church in Lamar for greatest percentage of parishioners participating and most money raised.
