  • Did you know that Missouri is number 10 on the list of states with the most natural disasters and third for disasters occurring in the last three years?
  • Did you know that 48% of Americans lack emergency supplies for use in the event of a disaster?
  • And more than half of parents do not have a designated meeting place in case of a disaster?

It has been many years since the devastating Joplin tornado of 2011. CCSOMO, along with your generous donations, was successful in providing a vast amount of case management services that included locating housing for the displaced; rebuilding damaged and destroyed homes, and providing assistance in achieving sustainability. Thousands of individuals were helped to get their lives back on track. In addition, hundreds of families in southeastern Missouri have been assisted over the past years in response to the tornadoes and floods that ravaged that part of the state. CCSOMO’s Disaster Preparedness and Response Program grew in response to these experiences. The mission of the Disaster Preparedness and Response Program is to prepare CCSOMO, the Diocese, parishes and the surrounding communities for effective and coordinated responses to natural disasters. Our staff works with local parishes and community groups to develop Emergency Response Plans to help them be better prepared and to know how to respond when disaster strikes. In doing so, future disaster response efforts will prove to be more successful because the community will be trained and ready. CCUSA logo1 mcauley-working-on-house-smallmore-hugs-in-joplin-small
