Make your way over to the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds (3001 N. Grant, Springfield, Mo., Booth W-15) this Saturday, April 13, 2019, for “Safe & Sound Saturday” featuring Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri (CCSOMO). Staff will be on hand to speak about the agency’s disaster preparedness curriculum, Plan.Prepare.Protect, and to recognize volunteer organizations. Also, as part of the day’s events, CCSOMO will give away to one lucky visitor an Enhanced Disaster Response Kit (EDRK) valued at $300.
At 11:00 a.m., CCSOMO Director of Disaster Preparedness and Response Shea Lane will be handing out $500 awards to four Disaster Long Term Recovery Committees from Carter, Howell, Newton, and Taney counties. The committees are made up of volunteers who decide how to best rebuild after a disaster. The award is for their ongoing and continuous disaster recovery efforts across Southern Missouri. Emergency managers will be on hand to accept the awards.
At around 2:00 p.m., Lane will give away an EDRK in support of Plan.Prepare.Protect. The EDRK was developed to maximize critical components and aid disaster survivors. These items include 35 high-quality products useful in thousands of situations. The EDRK is an enhanced version of the personal or family disaster kit used by CCSOMO in its Plan.Prepare.Protect curriculum. Have a look below at photographs of items included in the EDRK.
