Every Wednesday I do counseling from the Springfield Affordable Housing Center. Several weeks ago a very distraught woman came into the center. She felt hopeless because she is a single mom, going to college, working, behind on her rent, and out of food. Her name and address are protected because she is in the Safe At Home Program due to past domestic violence. Her high school-age daughter had to get a job to help with bills. What an evening! Thanks to many wonderful sponsors and volunteers, Dinner for Life 2014 was a overwhelming success! Over 360 guests turned out to support LifeHouse Crisis Maternity Home and celebrate the successes of the young women who have resided at LifeHouse since its opening on December 27, 2013. Following a social hour, the evening began with a prayer offered by Bishop James V. Johnston, followed by a delicious dinner and wonderful music by Geezer. Everyone enjoyed the first annual Dess
